A New Day

‘…being children of the resurrection.’ – Lk 20.36

The Christian story is about dying and rising again. This is the Paschal mystery. This is what we experience continuously throughout our lives, looking forward in hope to the ultimate resurrection in Jesus Christ.

Today we celebrate a new beginning in the life of our community. Today is a day of hope and looking forward to new possibilities and new life in our parish. Today is a day of new connections, or of reconnecting with familiar
faces. Today is a day to celebrate our story. We celebrate our rich history and the efforts of so many people to bring us to where we are today.

Today we celebrate unity. We are one body. We celebrate the gifts that each person brings. We look forward together as companions on a journey.

Today, let us open our hearts to the Holy Spirit who brings new life. Let us offer up today and every day to come that the Spirit might guide us as a community, as a family, into a new encounter with Jesus Christ.
