Following a recruitment process overseen by Teresa Brierley, Director of Pastoral Ministries, the Bishop has approved the appointment of Christopher Voigt as Parish Leader of St Joseph’s Parish, Toronto.
By way of introduction, Christopher provides the following information about himself:
My name is Christopher Voigt and I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve Christ in the capacity of Parish Leader at Toronto. I come to the role, having worked within the Archdiocese of Brisbane for about 10 years, the last 3 of which have been as a Pastoral Associate.
I am passionate about the formation of missionary disciples and journeying with people as they grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the midst of the Church.
I have been blest to have had the opportunity to lead, guide and develop various formation opportunities in Parishes including RCIA, Sacramental Programmes and Alpha, (which I have found to be a fantastic opportunity to enable people of all walks of faith to ‘Encounter Jesus’); as well as having served the Church in managerial and administrative roles.
Together with my wife, Gillian and 6 children, Bridget, Catherine, Dominic, Anthony, Elizabeth and Jonathan, we are relocating from Brisbane in order to respond to God’s call to serve Him in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese.
I look forward to the blessings and the challenges of leading the St Joseph’s community at Toronto and working with colleagues throughout the Diocese, as together we work to bring people to Christ by enriching the lived faith experience of our Parish communities and reaching out to respond to Christ’s call to be missionary disciples who evangelize the society in which we live.
