After much preparation, and a delay due to the COVID pandemic, the First Assembly of the Australia’s Plenary Council will start on October 3rd 2021. The pandemic also means the Assembly will be held with a combination of in-person and online delivery.

One of our parishioners, Bernadette Gibson, has been chosen to represent our diocese at the Assembly together with Fr Andrew Doohan VG and Helen Belcher. We wish them well and pray for the Spirit to direct the discernment of the assembly to help form and direct a bright future for our church in Australia.

The Assembly includes a number of Masses that will be livestreamed, as will some of the sessions. A program of these activities can be found here.

You can find some background information on the Plenary Council here, and some of the history and reasons why we are holding a Plenary Council in an article by Archbishop Mark Coleridge here.
