In the past few weeks, our Parish Bulletin has promoted Creation Sings at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The occasion was prompted by Pope Francis’ call to all of us to care for God’s gift of Creation and to which our Church dedicates the month of September as a world-wide focus of reflection, prayer and action.
So, last Saturday, I was one of about 60 people in the cathedral for Creation Sings, a novel, enjoyable and inspiring service in praise of Creation. There was prayer together, stunning earthy images, ‘live’ plant cuttings to give away and amazing (and new for me) choral singing, led by an enthusiastic and joyful Music Director, Dr. Anne Millard.
We learned and sang (beautifully!) John Rutter’s haunting For the Beauty of the Earth. It was recorded, so hopefully we will be able to share it in the future. This was followed by a cuppa & a ‘grazing table’ of delicious goodies – ‘Fruits of Creation’!
Such a lovely and invigorating afternoon! My heart is still singing!
