Answered Prayer

‘So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given to you.’ – Lk 11.9

I would like to share a story with you.

As you know, we have a very big site. Too big some might say. Since 2014, we have been engaged in numerous conversations around the viability of this location and how we might be able to get the space working for us. And so we’ve searched, knocked and asked. We’ve spoken to potential third parties who may wish to collaborate with us on developing the Community Centre, and many times it felt like we were banging our heads against a wall. To the point where we were ready to give up.

In fact we did. I remember a Saturday morning meeting with the PPC where I had to admit that maybe we had tried everything we could. It felt like a surrender. All we could do now was leave it in God’s hands. Together we prayed. Then something happened four days later.

It was Wednesday, 8th May. It was a most peculiar and wonderful day. For those of us who attended morning liturgy, we were greeted by a white pigeon calmly standing at the entrance to the church. What kind of day was this going to be? And then the phone calls started.

We had sold the old amenities block at the Community Centre.

DARA is looking to partner with someone in Toronto to establish a ‘Community Kitchen.’ Are we interested?

The plumbers are ready to disconnect the pipes to the Community Centre. Can they work today?

It felt like a great weight had shifted. God is on the move…
