BISHOP BILL’S VISIT – by Claire McWilliam

Every day we are to bring our needs, the needs of our loved  ones, and the needs of the whole world into the merciful Heart of Jesus.
Our Lord does not ask us to meet every need. We are only asked to do what we can and leave the rest to Him as He works out His loving plan for each human soul. Remember the “five loaves and two fish principle.” He can work miracles with such little offerings.

On the 22nd of July we had Bishop Bill present at Toronto parish.

The visitation every three years lets the Bishop not only interact with the parish but also see how the parish is going.

We had a day full of food, fun and celebrations!

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) put a lot of time and effort to make this day happen.

Many people make light work. So many people to thank for this amazing faith-filled day!

As a young person who knows Bishop Bill quite well, over the years I have spent time with him at youth events and parish events. It’s easy to strike a conversation with Bishop Bill who is our Bishop but also human being who, like you and me, loves food and having conversations with people.

It was a great experience not only to catch up with Bishop Bill but with the parishioners as well.

It was a day to reflect as a parish on the journey we have been on.

A crowd of around 50 people came for the morning session. The coldness of the hall didn’t stop people from coming.

We heard from Bishop Bill and his journey. We also heard from many people from behind the scenes of the running of the parish.

In our breaks we loved the sun and enjoyed our hot drinks outside.

The day was far from over at lunch time.

At our Parish Family Mass in the evening, we had the installation of Brendon as Parish Leader and Fr Geoff who is our Priest Supervisor.

It was another great sense of our community with many kids and families from our Primary school participating in the Mass.

We had a few VIPs from the Chancery office in the Diocese come and celebrate with us.

It was a chance to be thankful to those who have helped us on our journey.

The parish of Toronto is all about gathering, sharing and love. I believe this sums up the day.
