Living Prayer

This weekend, we celebrate with the families of 13 children sharing in the Eucharistic meal for the first time.

May they, and all of us, come to know Jesus more deeply through the celebration of Eucharist, and through this Holy Communion we share with each other as God’s family.

New to St Joseph's?

We’re glad you’re here! All are welcome in our community.

Encounter Jesus

The call to ‘Encounter Jesus’ is both an invitation and a mission.

We are an open, welcoming community that seeks to share the life and love of Jesus with every person we encounter.

As a community, we strive to create those spaces where anyone can freely encounter the person of Jesus.

We are further challenged to encounter Jesus in each other, in the world and in the life of the Church.

At Home with Us

Anyone who welcomes one of these little children in my name, welcomes me.” – Mk 9.37

There’s something about celebrating First Holy Communion that reminds me of home. Home – a place where everybody knows me and I know everybody; a place where all generations gather around the table to celebrate a meal; a place where I experience love; a place where I belong. On this occasion of celebrating Eucharist, let us
affirm to the children and their families that this is their home. This is where they are loved. This is where they can belong.

Last weekend, I shared about the PPC’s vision-planning meeting. For two years, the Council has been reflecting and discerning the direction of the parish. We look forward to sharing this vision with the community in November. For now, an important matter that was discussed at that meeting, was the potential changes to our celebration times on the weekend. As previously shared, starting in Advent (1st weekend in December) Fr Geoff will be saying Mass at Toronto on the 2nd and 4th weekends of the month (1st and 3rd at Morisset). This will allow our parish to make our own decisions regarding times and schedules. It is the discernment of the PPC that we will not make any planned changes to the scheduling of our celebrations for the next twelve months. We want to take this time to share the vision and mission with the community, and open up the conversation around the best ways forward together.

Finally, there was some big news coming out of our Parish School this week. On Monday, it was announced that Mr Kell York has been appointed the position of Assistant Principal for 2019. Mr York is currently Acting Assistant Principal at St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School, Lake Munmorah where he has held the position of Religious
Education Co-ordinator. We look forward to welcoming Mr York to our community.

On Thursday, Mr Leigh Peacock, our current School Principal, announced his retirement at the end of the year. Mr Peacock has served our community for the past eleven years and has made a significant contribution to our community and the lives of our children and families. We wish Leigh well in his final term as Principal and for his enjoyment of the years ahead.
